I was saddened to hear of the death today of Macho Man, Randy Savage.
He was very much a part of my son’s childhood – I was a very cool Mom (no, really) and I took my son to wrestling every time it came to our town, and as confirmed rednecks, I have to confess that we enjoyed every pay-per-view wrestlemania that ever took place until my son became more interested in other things (I think it was girls, actually, and maybe driving). Then, years later, we met him once in a grocery store parking lot in St. Pete Beach, Florida, when we used to live there. Here’s a photo of me with Macho Man, around 2003 I believe:
Now, you may wonder, how were we sure it was him? Well, there’s not a lot of people in St. Pete Beach that look like him, plus he was driving this that day:
That sort of left no doubt about his identity. He was very courteous and posed for multiple photos with our family. He was a gracious and pleasant man in person. How sad that he died so young.
